Our Story

Since our inception in 2001, we have been on a relentless mission to redefine the tobacco wholesale landscape in the Maldives. Our origins started with “ROOT,” which is more than just a store — a seed planted with care. With a lone employee and a deep desire to serve our customers, we set out to create a haven for tobacco enthusiasts. Little did we know that this modest start would evolve into something extraordinary.

Today, CGT’s influence extends across the Maldives. From our humble beginnings with the opening of our pioneering store, “ROOT,” to our current network of seven strategically located outlets, our journey has been marked by growth, commitment, and unwavering dedication. From the vibrant streets of Malé to the tranquil atolls, our presence resonates with both locals and tourists alike. With a market share of 80%, we are proud to be the largest distributor in the Maldivian tobacco industry.

We are not mere wholesalers, we are market shapers. Our strategic vision has transformed the way tobacco products are accessed and experienced. What began as a venture catering primarily to tourists has become a powerhouse that fuels the nation’s tobacco needs. Whether it’s a neighbourhood shop or an exclusive resort boutique, CGT ensures that our products are readily available in every corner of the country.

As we reflect on our journey, we celebrate being an integral part of the Maldivian community. Each new store we open becomes a thread woven into the fabric of Maldivian life. Every puff of smoke carries a touch of CGT’s legacy, built on a relentless pursuit of excellence.
